Love Unfeigned

Love so genuine
Love so needed
Love the Holy Spirit only can give

“And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2 [RSV]

For You, Special One

Delving into this topic today is wheewww! As always, I trust the Holy Spirit  to do justice through me.

Here we go!

Before I discuss about who and what Love is, I’d breeze through what Love isn’t for a minute. As we know, the presence of counterfeits bring to our knowledge the availability of the Authentic. Love is not a feeling. Love is not mere talk. It isn’t the butterflies we feel in our bellies when the Boo or Bae comes through. Love is a choice. Love is a person. Love is God.

If you could take your eyes off your screen for three minutes, pick up your hard copy bible (the notifications won’t pop up there), and quickly flip to and read 1st Corinthians 13, perusing this entire post will be a delightsome experience. There’s something about that love passage . No one should read  and meditate on it and still remain the same. Each time I visit that reading, I’m drawn even closer to Love Himself. For such genuine Love Apostle Paul talked about to be displayed by us, only God – the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit can help us. Literally!

and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.” Romans 5:5 [RSV]

This Love cannot be cranked or made up. It has to be poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit that resides in every one Christian, and praise God!  The Holy Spirit poured so much love into our hearts already!

The question now is – since we have the Love of God in our hearts, why is there hatred, backbiting, unforgiveness etc.,  in the Christiandom? One word – FLESH! Truth be told, carnality has become many Christians’ identity. Although we have been saved by Grace through faith, numerous Christians have left their minds unrenewed, making it difficult to differentiate them from pagans. They’d rather gratify their flesh, get even with people who offend them or intentionally be the offenders than submit to God’s will. Please bear in mind that I’m in no way implying that I’m perfect. Only God is.

Loving God and people the way God commands will surely require our absolute dependence on Him, our responsibilities not left out. It’ll require continual yielding to God to love genuinely. We must remind ourselves daily that we are spirit beings. We are not our flesh. Those earth suits help us to carry out our God ordained assignments on the earth. We are not our souls either. With them we think the God kind of thoughts, process the Philippians 4:8 kind of  ideas, assimilate revelations, conceive witty inventions and the likes.

The distractions will surely come, the afflictions will arise, offences will call for attention time and again, but the Love of God in your heart will never fail, neither will the Holy Spirit who sheds God’s Love in us.

Love grants us access to great depths in God. Exhausting the revelations on Love is impossible. God Himself is Love. The more we love, the more we recognize the need to love even more.  Envy, selfishness, pride and every other fruit of the flesh greatly limits the benefits we can have in God – riches without sorrow, transgenerational blessings, security of  our eternity and lots more.

Lately, I’ve been checking my love-walk almost on a daily basis. I’ve been scrutinizing my thoughts, words, actions and even inactions very often. I must be honest – although my growth has been sure, the labor has been real! I remember shedding a tear after apologizing… Humility and Love work hand in hand…for love is not self seeking.

Dear One, the more I think, the more I’ll type.  Let me sign off with some words worthy of note.

  • Love is a choice that must be made consciously.
  • Our knowledge about God’s Love for us and the love we have for ourselves will enable us to extend love to others.
  • Love is the solution you have been searching for.
  • Lavishly love people.

Keep basking in God’s Love and please, feel free to share your thoughts  or question(s) in the comment section.

Live victoriously.

With Selfless Love,

Abba’s Daughter – Your Sister.
