…when the vision board needs to be trashed

It was probably an ambition board.

“And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2 [ESV]

A genuine vision is not cranked up. It is not forged. It is not forced. This vision is borne of God. It is discovered or unveiled. It is revealed to any man or woman who will damn distractions and diligently seek God’s face.

Special One, the picture above is the vision board of yours truly. (Yeah, I know. It is not the prettiest of pictures.) Penning words on this vision board made me think really deep. Truth is – this was/is my first vision board. The previous ones I did were done on sheets of paper. Indeed, they were vision sheets. They weren’t made plain. They were haphazardly run with.  Painful enough, some of them were at best my (selfish)  ambition.

“I will stand like a guard and watch. I will wait to see what the Lord will say to me. I will wait and learn how he answers my questions.” Habakkuk 2:1 [ERV]

Before God spoke, His servant stood, watched, waited, and learnt. Did you notice the actions on Habakkuk’s path? He didn’t act casually. He was well aware that his life depended on the vision he received from God. Hence, like a guard, he waited attentively.

And One might ask, “With all these actions of Habakkuk, did God really desire to disclose Habakkuk’s  vision to him?” Friend, I tell you, God was more eager to tell his servant, Habakkuk what would happen in the future just as He is eager to tell us about His purpose for our lives.

“Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).” Jeremiah 33:3 [AMPC]

God desires that we call upon Him. Although He has given us the gift of free will, the beauty of our relationship with the Father is when we use our free will to seek God’s own will. God’s will is perfect. Ours are definitely not! Our limitations and selfishness have a way of creeping into our plans when God is not at the helm of affairs in our lives.

Friend, how can you and I access God’s plans for our lives? It’s by simply asking Him in prayers. Jesus said it best –  WATCH AND PRAY. We can’t be focused on the world’s noise and expect to hear God’s gentle voice. There’s a great need to remain sensitive and receptive to God’s Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, recognizing God’s voice and leading becomes easy. Also, gratifying our fleshly desires will not be a go-to for us (Galatians 5:16).

God reveals plans for our lives in several ways. He might not speak to you the way to spoke audibly to Samuel or Habakkuk. His plans for you might come through His still small voice. You might receive directions from Him as you study the Word of God. A burning desire in your heart might be a pointer to God’s plan for your life. Whatever the case may be, bear in mind that God’s purpose for your life will never contradict the standard of His Word. It will never!

So Special One, in regards to your vision board, do you believe it belongs to your ‘wall’, that place you can see God-breathed plans and daily run with it? Or do you think your board is filled with fleshly desires and therefore, belongs to the trashcan? Search your heart. Seek God’s face and run your race.

Live victoriously!

With Selfless Love,

Abba’s Daughter—Your Sister
