Today’s topic is rather vague – “Get It Off”.

Get what off?

How did it get on?

Friend, I’ll be only honest to mention that several ungodly thoughts creep into our hearts daily. Sometimes, even more often. I’m certain about myself. Lately, every 24 hours, I rebuke at least one ungodly thought. Before I rededicated my life to Christ, it used to be different. As often as those unwholesome thoughts crept in, I’d feel really guilty. How bad I thought I was. Thoughts of revenge, dissatisfaction, sexual activities, anger, you name them, found its way into my frail heart. Back then, some of those mental images settled and manifested themselves. Some didn’t.

Lack of revelation from God’s Word made me very vulnerable to the enemy’s tricks. Too many ungodly thoughts needed to be gotten rid of. Too little knowledge and power to do such.

Dear One, do not let your mind be a dumping site for the enemy. Get the evil thoughts off! Yes, that’s what you need to get off – the evil thoughts! They are not your thoughts until you say they are. And trust me, if you keep silent and do nothing about those dirty ideas the devil slips into your mind, you are invariably giving him (the devil) a VIP entry to manifest in your life. Please, note that I share this from my personal experience.

“My sheep recognize my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. They won’t follow a stranger but will run from him, for they don’t recognize his voice.” John 10:25,7 [TLB]

The devil remains the stranger. He only appears on the scene to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He wasn’t present at the creation of mankind. He definitely is not a shareholder of our destinies, except we let him in.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 [NIV]

How do we guard our hearts? With what do we secure them from contamination and decadence? With GOD’S UNFAILING WORD!

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11 [KJV]

What you hide in your heart cannot remain hidden for so long. Sooner than you think, it will find expression in your words and actions. If you hide God’s Word in your heart, God order of words and actions will follow, but if ill thoughts are in hidden in our bosom, you and I can guess the results – evil fruits.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8 [KJV]

Not only does God’s Word keep us away from sins, it also causes us to succeed. Some of us find it easier and/or more interesting to read/study secular books than studying the Holy Bible. The Word of God remains the Book of all books. It’s the oldest volume with the most current tips for undeniable success. It’s pure, true and power-full. More amazing is the fact that the Holy Bible is eternal. Please, tell me – what do you have to lose by holding on to the truth?

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:13-17 [NLT]

In this Kingdom, we do not fight with our fists, knives, and guns. We fight with the sword of the Spirit – God’s Unfailing Word. It’s sharper than any two edged sword. When wielded in faith, it NEVER misses its target. We know who the arch enemy is. Hence, we subscribe to the real weapon – God’s Word.

In conclusion, God’s Word is not only defensive weapon. It’s a corrective weapon. It’s also a destructive weapon. Thing is – God’s Word is all encompassing.  With God’s Word in your heart and on your lips, those silly, dirty thoughts won’t last long. Remember how Jesus kept responding to the enemy when He was being tempted? “It is written… It is written…” How can you know what is written when your Bible is still dusty? Open up the Word of God. Read it. Believe it. Speak it. Wield it in faith against the enemy. God’s Word will surely keep him off limits.

Special One, keep wielding your sword. Keep being God’s. Till I write to you next time.

With Selfless Love,

Abba’s Daughter – Your Sister
