What To Do When The Storms of Life Are Raging

Dear Warrior, my warm greetings to you this new month. This is my 1st post in this month of April. How is this month going for you? I’d really like to know.

Today, I’ll be sharing a few practical insights regarding actions to take when the storms of life start raging. Truth is- we are in those times. The boisterous storms of this life are real and these times are trying. Some persons are unperturbed by the storms while some others are paralysed with fear of the happenings. Whether or not we are scared, we are all affected by the existence of this plague called COVID-19. Majority of us are NOT infected. Nevertheless, all of us are affected; some activities we engage in have come to a rude halt, homeschooling is the resort whether parents like it or not, some persons are currently off their jobs, and a whole lot more.

At this time, I’ll recommend that we should not sit by our TVs and bemoan the condition of our nation, and the world at large. Complaining never made anything or anyone better. It never has. It never will. I’ll briefly discuss a few things we need to do in this season.

  1. Avoid ignorance. Know the facts about the storm but do not be burdened by the information. A lot of persons read news off of almost every nook and cranny and rebroadcast it without confirming if the information is true or false. Such spread does more harm than good especially when lives are at stake. Have the right knowledge of the facts. In the case of COVID-19, through W.H.O, we know how this pandemic is contracted, and we know precautionary steps to take in order to avoid further infections.
  2. Speak to the storm. This is a need. Friend, do not just speak to people about the storm. Speak directly to the storm. Elements have ears. The Earth has ears, and so does viruses. It is your responsibility to speak. If Jesus Christ did so when He was here on earth, and we claim we are followers of Christ, we must not cease from speaking to this mountain that is right before us (Mark 4:39). A closed mouth, they say, is a closed destiny. Do not seal your fate by shutting your mouth in fear. Speak out in faith.
  3. Let nothing steal your peace. In John 16:33, Jesus Christ tells his disciples (and us) that trials and tribulations are a must in this world, but He didn’t stop there. He assures us that through Him, the troubles in this world have no power to conquer us because He has overcome the world on behalf of us. Having proper knowledge of this is needful to stay victorious in this race called life. What you predominantly think about, you attract, one way or the other. When you focus on the Prince of peace (Jesus Christ, the Living Word), you attract peace.
  4. Remain thankful to God. In 1st Thessalonians 5:18, we are admonished to remain thankful to God wherever we find ourselves because that is the will of God for us. Question is- what is God’s will for us? The troubles? The pain? The sickness? Absolutely not! Thanksgiving is the will of God, for in the midst of praise, God’s people are raised (Psalms 67:5-7). In spite of all the evil works of the enemy, the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to God always gives us victory over the enemy. Those weapons can never be demystified by the enemy.
  5. Know where you stand with your Creator. The importance of having a budding relationship with God cannot be overemphasized. There is this void in our hearts that only GOD can fill. Not having a relationship with God is detrimental to human existence. You and I can do nothing except we are helped by God. Running far from God invariably means running into the camp of the enemy. No one prays that for themselves. We need God’s friendship, God’s fellowship, God’s covering. Without God, all the above I earlier discussed will not hold water. The good news is- no matter how far we currently are from God, His arms are opened wide to us all. He is a merciful God.
  6. Serve Others. If not for the selfless service of health professionals at the frontline of all these happenings, many more lives would have been lost. If not for the tireless service of  store keepers, COVID-19 won’t have been the only battle we’d be fighting. Thank God for songwriters and worshippers who are in tune with Heaven to give us sounds and songs needed for this season, and thank God for you and I who continually spread hope through our words and works, even as we remain hopeful in God. There’s an online course I recently launched that’ll benefit you in no small measure. It’s titled “Serve Your Way Up”. You should check it out.

Dear One, there’s need for us to rise and remain in faith. This storm will not see the end of us. We shall see its end in Jesus’s Name. Amen. What other things do you recommend that we do in times such as this? I’m eager to see your responses in the comment section.

With love and passion,

Ashley
