Your sword is not enough.

...and being swordless is a dangerous choice.

“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.” Ephesians 6:13 [MSG]

Special One,

The fight is real. We are in for this combat whether or not we are cut out for it. The best we can do is to STAY prepared.

Life storms come unannounced.  Trials and temptations do not send in invitations, notices or warnings. When they arrive, they arrive! Truth be told— I, for one,  do not always stay prepared. There were times I was grossly unguarded…misplaced weapons and all. What was the result? For the temptations, I fell! For the storms, I shrunk in fear! But thank God for G-R-A-C-E! Today, I’m here, and I thank God you are here too.

A Fight to the Finish

“10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

13-18 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Ephesians 6:10-18 [MSG]

The above scripture is so enlightening! Without a doubt, we are up for more than what we can handle. If we do not engage the weapons God provided for us, we will become minced meat in the hands of the enemy.

First, we must fully understand that the fight we are in is absolutely spiritual. I think I need to elaborate on my last sentence. Physical combats, keeping grudges, retaliations, and the likes will do you and I more harm than good. Beating up the lady who had or currently has an affair with your husband might give you a sense of victory, but that feeling is so fleeting. The solution is not in giving the promiscuous woman a black eye. It’s way beyond that! Can’t you see? The spirit of fornication is at work. Except you deal with the roots, you will surely see the fruits. The unseen things are more real than the things that can be discerned by our naked eyes. Friend, we need to be wise. Let’s not wear ourselves out on this battle ground by fighting the wrong enemies with the wrong weapons, for we do not contend with flesh and blood but with fierce spiritual beings (Ephesians 6:12).

  • Your sword— God’s indispensable Word is not enough. You need your whole armor.
  • Your knowledge of God’s Word is vital.
  • Your faith in the Word of God that you know is a non-negotiable requirement.
  • In this warfare, prayer is essential.
  • None of the above will work without LOVE in your heart.
This lifelong fight ought not be dreaded at all. It should be embraced by you and I. Our relationship with God makes all the difference. God in Jesus and Jesus in us! Which devils can tame us?!  Remember, we fight from the stance of victory and not for victory. The trying times will come, the enemy will lift his ugly head again and again, but one truth will remain. If our whole armor is always in the right place and applied daily as we live, just like the enemy fled after tempting Jesus for a season (Matthew 4:1-11), as often as he comes, he’ll continually flee from us.

And yes, while we fight this fight of faith, let’s cheer ourselves on. Lift a brother, a sister, that neighbor of yours in prayers. Intercede on their behalf. Be a source of encouragement. Let the words from your lips soothe their wounds. Tell them how amazing they are. Tell them the TRUTH in LOVE.

At this point, I think it is safe to say, “Let’s enjoy the battle! Shall we?” Hahaha! You know it’s unavoidable!

I earnestly pray God helps us to be ardent doers of His Word in Jesus’s enabling name. Amen.

Remain victorious.

With Selfless Love,

Abba’s Daughter—your Sister
