Every Christian Should Do These 5 Things in 2023

Every Christian has the resources to live a fulfilling life this year and beyond.  But it’s the understanding and right application of these resources  that will determine how glorious our future will be.

Nothing makes God prouder than seeing His children live victorious Christian lives. That’s the reason why He sent His sinless Son, Jesus Christ to come and pave the way for us all.

So how can we live our best lives left this new year? I’ll suggest 5 things every christian should do in 2023 that’ll make Jesus proud, have you greatly blessed and get the devil super tensed!

Reminder to every Christian - your life is a beautiful story

The Christian To-Do List

Pursue your purpose

I chose the word ‘pursue’ because it’s a matter of urgency. And because time is limited, we must live with that consciousness. Being sluggish, complacent, or indifferent about God’s call upon your life will deprive of you so much.

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4 NKJV

Keep Eternity in perspective

Do not be the christian who only trusts/serves God for the goodies one can get out of life; a good job, an enviable marriage, a lavish lifestyle, etc. Instead, pray that righteousness will prevail on the Earth, ask God to help you be His proper representative everywhere you find yourself, meditate on the beauty of spending Eternity with Him, and most importantly, live ready in anticipation of His return.

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 NKJV

Meditate (more)

It’s safe to say that almost every Christian knows what meditation is. But the question is- how many of us actually meditate? With the obtrusive distraction in this world today, the art of meditation has never been more needed. Friend, shut out the noise. Clear your schedule. Make time to think on scriptures. Ruminate over the scriptures in your mind until light bursts forth. Ask pertinent questions. Write down your thoughts. You’ll be surprised at the kind of revelations, ideas and solutions God will be dropping on you.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.” Joshua 1:8 NRSV)

Volunteer

Dear One, the world is in dire need of your skills, time, energy, money, etc. You are very resourceful (I’m really hoping you are aware of that fact). You have something to give. Let’s not be so consumed by what we can get and lose out on the greater blessing of giving. Help someone in need today. Volunteer at that organization. Serve at your local church. Open your eyes and heart to the opportunities to serve around you. It’s limitless. In doing so, you’ll be greatly blessed.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.“1st Peter 4:10 NIV

Be excellent at your work

Mediocrity is the order in the day in the lives of several Christians and that’s very offensive. Jesus Christ didn’t die, resurrect, ascend into Heaven and send the Holy Spirit for you and I to be average. It’s an insult to our Heavenly Father. And the blood of Jesus isn’t your ticket to laziness either. You and I need to work. Not shabby works. Creative and excellent works. And it won’t happen overnight. It comes with consistency, perseverance, research, assessments, accountability and very importantly, putting God first in all your endeavours.

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NLT

Reminder to all Christian- your eternity with Jesus ought to be your priority

One More Thing Every Christian Should Do

Let praise continually be on your lips. Remain thankful to God. Dance for joy in spite of how your journey might look. Sing. Share your testimonies. Share in other people’s joy as well. It keeps the devil mad and depression out of sight. You really cannot be a thankful Christian and be stagnant. Absolutely impossible. When we praise God, he will raise us. (See Psalm 67:5-7)

Action Plan: Meditate on the scripture below.

“In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world.” 1st John 4:17 AMP
